May 13, 2014 – The Authority awarded Crawford Grading and Pipeline a $266,209.90 contract for installation of a lift station at Colwell Road and GA Hwy. 16, along with associated gravity sewer. This lift station has been designed to receive all wastewater flowing from I-75 to Colwell Road as lines are added to serve the north an south sides of GA Hwy. 16. The Authority’s own staff will also be laying force main and some gravity sewer for this project. Operations reserves and 2013-18 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax will be used to do the work. This project had originally been funded by a 2011 Community Development Block Grant to Butts County, but the grant was returned to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs when the Great American Travel Center reneged on its commitment to bond the job creation that made the grant possible.
