Meter Change Out Project Begins

Posted on: January 3rd, 2013

January 3, 2013 – The Butts County Water and Sewer Authority will begin changing out all manually-read water meters for radio-read versions on January 7, 2013.  Some 4,500 meters will be replaced over the next four months.  The new meters will be read via a radio connection to a lap top computer in service trucks and are capable of logging data on how water is used at specific times, helping customers to identify when leaks may have occurred.

Water service will be disconnected for about ten minutes during each meter change.  The work will be performed by Mack Jones, Inc.  Work crews will wear uniforms and drive vehicles with the company’s logo.   The Authority will issue out weekly press notices identifying which roads are scheduled for meter change outs until the project is completed.

During the week of January 7-11, meter change outs are scheduled for the following roads:

Weavers Lakefront Rd, Oscar Ln, T W Leverette Rd , Mt Vernon Church Rd, Fawn Rd, High Falls Rd, Hammond Rd, Glen Echo Dr, Woodlands Dr, Post Oak Dr, Forest Ct, Birch Ct, Lee Maddox Rd, Harbour Shores Dr, Scofield Ln, Pointe View Ct, Brooks Rd, Levi Barnes Rd, Brownlee Rd, Weavers Pasture Rd, Hwy 36 W, and Mulberry Street.
