March 11, 2015 – The Authority has received approval for a grant of $986,860 to install emergency power generators that will allow the system to continue to treat and pump water to all customers during a major power outage. The grant is provided through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and came about as a result of the devastating winter storm experienced here in February 2014. Many thanks go to Glen Goens, Butts County’s Emergency Management Agency director, and Alicia Soriano, Risk Reduction Specialist with GEMA. Both were instrumental in assisting the Authority in the grant process.
