March 2, 2017 – Butts County has been downgraded from a Level 2 Drought Response to a Level 1 Drought Response by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The Level 1 Drought Response declaration requires that local water utilities continue a public information campaign to help citizens better understand drought, its impact on water supplies and the need for water conservation. It’s important to note that water supply in Butts County continues to be abundant. The drought declaration is due to low rainfall, not reduced water supply.
