The Butts County Water Authority’s main water line on Highway 36 West near Duffey Road ruptured last night.
The main break interrupted water service between 1666 Hwy 36 W and 1982 Hwy 36 W. The line is currently in the process of being repaired.
This notice is being issued to comply with State of Georgia requirements. A potential health hazard may exist in areas that experienced zero pressure from backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality from homes into the water distribution system.
In order to protect customers from a potential health hazard, all customers that have experienced water outage and/or low water pressures are advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.
We expect that this “boil water” notice will be lifted when testing is completed. You may check our web site at www.buttswsa.com or call our office at 770-775-0042 to confirm.
