The water main along Short Road was hit by a contracting company during the
afternoon of October 22, 2026. This required us to temporarily shut off the water.
Now that the water has been restored, we must do a bacteria test to confirm that
your water is bacteria free before you begin using it to drink or cook without boiling
it first. This test takes twenty-four hours to complete.
This notice is being issued as to comply with State of Georgia requirements. A
potential health hazard may exist in areas that experienced zero pressure from
backflow and/or back-siphonage of water of unknown quality from homes into the
water distribution system.
In order to protect customers from a potential health hazard, all customers that
have experienced water outage and/or low water pressures are advised to boil all
water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should
be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.
We expect that this “boil water”notice will be lifted as soon as possible when testing
is completed. You may check our web site at www.buttswsa.com to confirm that
the “boil water” notice has been lifted.
